This paper aims to demonstrate how the concept of disability is a multidimensional construct that has evolved significantly over time. It frames models of disability such as the exclusionary, rehabilitative, social, educational, and biopsychosocial models. The latter recognizes that disability is not an individual attribute but a relational condition, evaluating functioning, participation, and contextual barriers. It also emphasizes inclusion, diversity, and rights. In conclusion, while significant progress has been made in the labor inclusion of people with disabilities and in the social perception of their abilities in the workplace, challenges remain. These include expanding opportunities in the workplace, diversifying job profiles, ensuring that access to employment opportunities is not limited to a single category, and providing people with disabilities with the necessary support, training, and guidance in performing their assigned tasks
